Troopers, Deep River Residents Target Underage Drinking

"Resident state troopers from Essex, Chester and Deep River are working with Tri-Town Youth Services to identify and intervene in underage drinking situations through Party Patrols and Party Dispersals.
A 2009 National Survey on Drug Use and Health sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration found that more than half (55.9 percent) of current drinkers aged 12 to 20 had used alcohol in the past month in someone else's home, and 29.2 percent stating that it had occurred in their own home. Close to 70 percent of those interviewed did not pay for alcohol the last time they drank, but cited unrelated people 21 or older — parents, guardians, and other adult family members — as main sources."
